I often see people being compared to cucumbers because of how much we are composed of water but I always related more to a cactus. I find I hold onto water so well and so rarely crave it, that I often don’t realize I forget to water myself 🌵I’m talking days without drinking a cup of water! Someone once told me, “if you’re thirsty, it’s too late”.
I vowed to myself to drink water not just when I’m thirsty, but throughout the day- everyday. My biggest help has been buying this giant 2 litre water bottle. I fill it up first thing in the morning and sip on it throughout the day. That way, I know I’m getting exactly what I need.
I have also tried apps that remind you to drink water. My favourite one is @plantnanny_us -in this app, you track your water intake by watering a virtual plant every time you drink water 🌱I love this because the more we view ourselves as plants to care for, the gentler we can be with ourselves 💓
Flavouring your water is great too! Adding mint, berries, lemon, flowers etc not only adds a nice visual touch but also spices up your water so it’s more pleasant to drink. Of course, herbal teas (without caffeine) are also a great way to up your hydration as well 🫖
